Hydraulic control systems

The hydraulic control units used worldwide are of rugged design and have been especially developed for the control of powered roof supports in underground mining operations. They can also be used in other areas of water hydraulics such as e.g. in rolling mills or as motor control units.

In order to be able to fulfill the most varied requirements of powered roof supports and meet the demands specified by customers in the best possible way the hydraulic control units can be combined choosing from a wide range of variants. In addition to the number of functions (up to 24) and the manifold port sizes for the hose lines valve capsules with different flow rates are available.

The pilot valves flanged to the control block are also available in different variants. Depending on customer requirements we offer types with simple levers working on the dead man’s principle or with different latch combinations.

In order to be able to optimally perform certain functions of the shield support, as for example, controlling the flipper cylinder, the valve capsules can be equipped with a check valve.

The respective valve capsules have the check valve integrated between the working port and the return. It prevents that the flipper cylinder can extend all by itself due to an excessive backpressure which may e.g. occur when several shields are lowered at the same time.

The simple construction of the control units permits a fast and easy replacement of the components. The cartridge-style valve inserts, pilot valves and the integrated plug-type filter can be exchanged without problems.

In addition to the variants of the standard version many more options are possible by control block housings with different hole patterns. For example, two valve capsules can be activated via one pilot control valve. A further variant would be to supply selected valve capsules via an additional pressure connection with a different system pressure.

While the direct-activated control system has the pilot valves flanged directly to the main control block the split-type variant has the pilot control unit separated from the main block. The activation is effected via a so-called „multihose“. Thanks to this feature not all hydraulic lines need to be routed into the adjacent shield separately. This allows a flexible and uncomplicated operation especially on high shields.

The compact-type control system has the connection block for the „multihoses“ fitted between the pilot control unit and the main control block. The multihose block interconnects the individual compact control units in the shields. This does away with the need for the complicated shield-to-shield hose routing. The compact controls lend themselves particularly well for low shield designs
