As the level of automation in mining increases, it becomes increasingly important to protect personnel from moving shield supports to prevent accidents.

The iProx Tag-Proximity System by Tiefenbach Control Systems is specifically designed to provide this protection, avoiding the use of interference-prone RFID or field strength-based technologies.

High-precision signal transit time measurements enable accurate and robust tracking of personnel and materials in the longwall, with a focus on precision, speed, and interference resistance.The basic functions include blocking critical functions in the shield supports and signaling both in the shield and the control center, supplemented by colored LED lights in the iProx nodes.

Additionally, the integrated motion sensors in the tags can detect a "man-down" situation and trigger corresponding alarms.The iProx nodes integrate seamlessly into the new ASG5 2020 system and enhance the visibility of the signal lights within it.

An integrated angle sensor, in combination with other sensors, enables the detection of shield height and position in the longwall.The iProx tag is fully waterproof thanks to its contactless charging capability and provides a runtime of approximately 18 hours.
